Employment Opportunities

  • Minimum Requirements:

    • A citizen of the United States

    • At least 21 years of age

    • Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent

    • Vision acuity of 20 – 20, (20 – 70 corrected)

    • Normal color vision and depth perception

    • Normal hearing in both ears

    • Possess good emotional and physical health

    • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle for extended periods of time in all environmental conditions and on occasion operate the vehicle at high speeds and in congested traffic situations.

    • Able to direct traffic in congested and emergency areas.

    • Able to speak before citizens and citizen’s groups.

    • Must be able to qualify on the shooting range.
      Ability to operate a two-way radio.

    • Able to operate radar equipment.

    • Able to read, understand and interpret City Ordinances and State Statutes.

    • Proportional height and weight as determined by the examining physician

    • No person who has been convicted of a Felony or a Crime of Moral Turpitude shall be considered for employment unless he has been granted a full pardon by the proper agency.

    • Individuals accepted as Police Recruits, maintaining a residence outside the corporate limits of Pauls Valley will not be required to be residents of Pauls Valley if they reside within 10 miles by the most direct route on public streets from the Police Department, unless authorized by the Chief of Police. Otherwise Police Recruits will be required to be residents of Pauls Valley.

    • Police Recruits will be required to Pass the State Pension Physical.

      Must Possess a High School Diploma, or GED,

    • Must be able to operate a two-way radio

    • Ability to read, understand and interpret ordinances and other operating procedures

    • Must be able to communicate orally and in writing

    • Must be able to respond to varying situations with tact and diplomacy and know how to deal with stressful, hostile or irrational persons.

    • Must be in good physical condition.
